About Us
Tinsel and Tonic Apothecary didn’t begin as a business. It began as a way of life. Our story started with Off Kilter Homestead, our YouTube project built on the motto: “Be self-sufficient. Help everyone you can. Inconvenience no one.” That path led us deeper into herbal remedies, handcrafted tinctures, and traditional ways of caring for the body.
In 2021 we closed the homestead and moved to Wauchula, Florida, where we found a community we genuinely love. In 2024, while reading The Lost Apothecary, that spark returned, and I was reminded of the remedies my Appalachian Mamaw learned growing up in Pennington Gap, Virginia during the Great Depression. Those memories reshaped our direction, but the real shift came at home.
When our son began dealing with ongoing health issues and the doctors dismissed our concerns, we realized we needed to take our interest in natural medicine seriously. Not only were we able to help him, but when our younger son later developed the same issue, the one we were repeatedly told would “go away on its own,” we resolved it naturally in just over a week. That was the turning point. The point where belief became conviction.
I formally entered training to become a clinical herbalist and soon an aromatherapist. I wish I had followed this path decades ago, but we’re here now, and we’re using what we’ve learned to support others the way we once needed support ourselves.
We are a husband and wife team with two boys: Hoss and Hanna, and our sons Eoin (Goober) and Ollie. We are rooted in faith, family, and service.
What began as a blend of homesteading, herbalism, and storytelling has become Tinsel and Tonic Apothecary, a place where old-world herbal tradition meets practical modern care, offered year-round but grounded in the quiet, generous spirit of the Christmas season.
This apothecary blends heritage, community, science, and spirit to offer handcrafted teas, tinctures (soon), and herbal support for those who value both warmth and wisdom.
